PROFILE - LYDIA GRILHERES

Lydia Grilheres

Responsable Marketing Operationnel – Thales

How long have you worked there?
I have been working for Thales for eight years, within several activities, including four years in the cybersecurity domain with a national and international scope.

What aspects of your job bring you the most satisfaction?
One of the most captivating aspects of working in operational marketing in the field of cybersecurity at Thales is the opportunity to promote and market cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions and services to a global audience. This daily work involves collaborating with colleagues worldwide, including new team members acquired in recent years. It is a great opportunity to learn from others and establish synergies. This opportunity allows you to be part of a constantly evolving market where innovation never stops. You will work with technical teams and partners to enhance cybersecurity for our customers. As a marketing professional, this role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity experts, product managers, and sales teams. The challenges and threats in the cybersecurity landscape are constantly changing. Working with third-party partners like Threat Quotient can enhance the cyber protection of organisations and thus, enhance synergies! This is not only interesting from a marketing perspective but also for daily work and at the end, for the customer.

What do you enjoy most about the company?
The dedication of my colleagues to their daily work, and the synergies that are evolving everywhere to enhance cyber security for all! The daily work at Thales involves collaborating with colleagues worldwide, including new team members acquired in recent years. It is a great opportunity to learn from others and establish synergies.

How did you get into cybersecurity?
Previously, I was involved in other Thales activities such as space and aeronautics, where the group is integrating cybersecurity into these solutions and markets. I made the choice to evolve internally for a job where I could be completely dedicated to cybersecurity, an evolving market that interested me greatly!

What do you like most about cybersecurity?
Cybersecurity is a rapidly evolving field, and staying up-to-date with the latest threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies is crucial. This mean staying ahead of emerging challenges in the context of digitalisation of companies and of course, of marketing activities! Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential in cybersecurity. Being able to clearly convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is crucial for building relationships and promoting a cyber-security culture within the market.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #InspireInclusion. What does that mean to you?
#InspireInclusion means actively working to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create opportunities for people of all genders to succeed. It recognizes that everyone has unique talents and contributions, and that inclusive environments foster innovation, creativity, and equality. All of this theme “Women’s Day theme” #InspireInclusion is beneficent for this field of cyber security that is really innovative and evolving with no borders everywhere!

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I was hoping to be a teacher in the field of history and geography, which is not too far from working in cybersecurity where one of the aspects is the geopolitical challenge that is affecting cyber threats.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Never stop learning and practice empathy!

What is your favorite quote and why?
“There is nothing impossible to they who will try.”

Who is your hero?
My colleague Ivan Fontarensky is a perfect mix of someone who is expert in cyber security and someone who is still dedicated to helping make cyber security understandable to everyone. A perfect partner for cyber marketing in this technical field of cyber security!
